A WEDDING, A PARTY, AND LOTS OF LAUGHS

A WEDDING, A PARTY, AND LOTS OF LAUGHS

Last Friday we attended our daughter Olivia’s wedding to Greg—again. Thanks to COVID this was actually a redo. They were married last year in a very small ceremony in our home. But not this year; this year was the party and what a party it was!

There is proof that laughter is beneficial. Multiple studies have led scientists to believe that laughter reduces our stress hormones and helps lower blood pressure. And one thing that is certain is that laughing feels good. With COVID in our lives there is no question we need to laugh.

And this celebration overflowed with joy. We were with family and friends celebrating a love that we have all benefited from. A love that has joined two families. What could be better than a party to applaud this wonderful occasion.

Last week I gave you an easy and fun recipe to reduce stress. Next week, I’ll share the technique for making French scrambled eggs. My father would make them every Christmas morning served with fresh croissant and black truffles. It was scrumptious. Don’t miss it.

I’ll leave you today with images from the wedding/party/celebration.

Enjoy!

P.S. The Grandview in Poughkeepsie, NY is where the wedding/party was held. It is located directly on the Hudson River and is an outstanding location.

What really needs to be noted is how wonderful the entire experience was. The staff went out of their way to make certain we had everything we wanted. Whenever there was a question, they just smiled and said “we’ll take care of it” and they did. They took care of everything in a way that was above and beyond our expectations.

When it came to the food, they did an amazing job. I am not a fan of dinners that are served at events, but here the food was far better than most restaurants. Everything was prepared at the last minute. Not only was it fresh but it was delicious.

When the wait staff asked me if my fillet mignon was cooked the way I wanted, and added that if it wasn’t they would be happy to replace it, they got my attention. It was perfect, but more importantly I don’t remember ever being asked that question in a restaurant.

All this to say, if you or any one you know is looking for a wedding venue in the Hudson Valley please check them out.

I’m hoping someone I know has a wedding there and invites me so I can go back and enjoy the experience all over again.

Check it out for yourself The Grandview

Last week’s blog post made me think about what other things I do to challenge myself. When cooking, I love to make something I’ve never tried before. I love the challenge and anticipation of what all the ingredients in the recipe will taste like; will I be able to make it and will I learn something I can . . .

After 13 years, Bentley, our dog, got sick. She had a mass in her abdomen and before we could find out exactly what the mass was, she took a turn for the worse. Thanks to an amazing vet, Reinmarie Williman, from Veterinary Care of Mt. Pleasant, who is probably the most caring doctor I have ever met... as a family...
